Job Description - Lead Supervisor (226 Days) (RTP20250415-009)

Position Overview

Directly supervise 4 or more Area Supervisors and indirectly oversee 45+ Cafeteria Supervisors and 325+ campus staff. Responsible for leadership on policies and procedures related to the Food and Child Nutrition program, including staffing, labor relations, compliance, training, employee evaluation, and public relations at the school level. Acts as a liaison between the food service department and campus administrators.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Ensure compliance with best practices, laws, regulations, policies, and emerging technologies related to school food service operations, and communicate updates to relevant personnel.
  2. Monitor food purchases, labor costs, and supplies to adhere to the annual budget. Analyze staffing levels daily and adjust as needed.
  3. Assist Area Supervisors with disciplinary concerns and provide counseling to ensure fair treatment of staff, maintaining proper documentation for due process.
  4. Maintain and update records in Filemaker for various programs such as Child and Adult Care Food Program, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, and others.
  5. Fill in for Area Supervisors when the position is vacant.
  6. Conduct annual performance evaluations for Area Supervisors.
  7. Visit campuses regularly to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  8. Attend workshops and seminars to stay current with industry standards.
  9. Lead monthly meetings for Cafeteria and Area Supervisors.
  10. Participate in campus kitchen construction meetings to stay informed on project timelines and address concerns.

Additional Notes

Selected individuals will be placed according to district compensation guidelines. A campus-based employee may not assume a new position until the end of the current semester unless approved. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Institutional Management, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Home Economics, or related field.
  • At least three years of supervisory experience in the food industry, preferably in K-12 or nutrition-related fields, with at least one year as an Area Supervisor.
  • Experience in school food service management, menu planning, catering, marketing, and promotions.
  • Experience in project planning and team collaboration.
  • School Nutrition Specialist (SNS) Credential preferred.
  • Registered Dietitian or Licensed Dietitian desirable but not required.
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and laws related to employee relations and investigations.
  • Proficiency in Oracle, MS Windows, and MS Office.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and work under pressure independently.
