Job Description - Textbook Supervisor (226 Days) (RTP20240904-008)

Description

  • Assist campus and non-campus administrators in safeguarding textbooks and adhering to policies and procedures adopted by the State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) and the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
  • Maintain all records of textbook activity including textbook distribution and transfer from all schools within the district.
  • Collect all funds from the schools for the sale of textbooks and control funds until the textbooks are replaced.
  • Oversee all textbooks charged to the district by the Texas Education Agency.
  • Oversee all textbooks requisitions for the district.
  • Receive all textbook shipments for the district, including the official sample textbooks and Prospectus, and identify shipment errors and discrepancies.
  • Report all publishers who fail to ship samples.
  • Coordinate all shipments of textbooks from the district.
  • Plan, prepare, and disseminate written instruction designed to facilitate the textbook delivery system.
  • Create a yearly reporting calendar for use by all schools within the district.
  • Work in collaboration with TEA and Region 10 to determine changes in textbook requirements.
  • Work in collaboration with the technology department to enhance and generate reports comparable to TEA reports.
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in School Administration.
  • Five years of directly related experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Public Education Information Management (PEIMS).
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing, implementing, and monitoring Textbooks department in accordance with local, state, and federal policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to submit accurate reports promptly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of administration.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written format.
  • Organizational, communication, customer service, supervisory and interpersonal skills are required to achieve the goals of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise considerable initiative and judgment.
