- Lead and supervise bus drivers to achieve transportation performance goals and expectations as they relate to the service center operations and the safe and timely transportation of all passengers.
- Provide support to leadership regarding employee management—bus driver assignments, attendance, overtime, accident protocols, and reporting of hazardous routes or other issues.
- Oversee an equitable system for covering routes and support dispatch duties if required.
- Review and understand Dallas ISD policies, Student Transportation guidelines, and procedures to ensure consistency in decisions and actions, including disciplinary actions, investigations, conflict resolution, and personnel matters.
- Work closely with stakeholders to ensure accurate communication regarding route statuses to address concerns from schools, leadership, parents, and community members.
- Oversee weekly and monthly student counts submitted by drivers and ensure reporting deadlines are met.
- Develop and maintain good relations with the service center team, campuses, teachers, and parents, ensuring community concerns are reviewed and followed up on promptly.
- Review routing system data and bus video footage periodically to provide feedback and ensure accountability with transportation protocols and district policies, including student discipline.
- Maintain current knowledge of active routes and school locations for timely services and accurate information.
- Ensure all equipment is in good repair, properly inventoried, and meets safety standards for students and staff.
- Minimum educational requirements include a High School Diploma or GED; a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
- Meet TEA qualifications for school bus drivers and maintain proper certification.
- Possess knowledge of streets and highways in Dallas County, school programs, report preparation, safety regulations, routing technology software, and extracurricular scheduling.
- Communicate effectively with tact, discretion, and courtesy, and be able to write and present information clearly.
- Utilize online mapping applications for accurate directions and analyze situations to adopt effective actions.
- Proficient in MS Office, Excel, and Internet resources; bilingual skills in English/Spanish are a plus.
