GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific store area and overseeing store operations when acting as Manager on Duty. They handle opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, ensuring merchandise presentation, and keeping the store clean. They also execute and supervise operational processes as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety by practicing safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment; report unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, including managing entry/exit points, EAS devices, cash office security, and receiving procedures.
- Keep emergency exits clear and ensure customer safety through accident prevention and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems regularly and respond to alarms after hours.
Customer Service:
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect and professionalism.
- Acknowledge and recognize associates' efforts.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and uphold the company brand and professional appearance.
- Maintain store cleanliness, merchandising standards, and manage trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards; oversee merchandise receipt and processing.
- Maintain organized stockrooms and ensure proper merchandising, signage, and back-stock management.
- Reduce loss due to damage and ensure compliance with presentation guidelines.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention policies, maintain a strong customer service presence, and safeguard merchandise and confidential information.
- Maintain PVM system and conduct package inspections.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Maximize front-end productivity, manage line pacing, and train associates on cash register procedures.
- Control break schedules, ensure equipment functionality, and manage supplies.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and security of fitting rooms, audit tags, and manage return procedures.
Administrative Duties:
- Handle cash pulls, deposits, payroll, and other administrative tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Fluency in English
- Previous customer service and supervisory experience preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems
- Basic math skills
- Availability to work evenings and weekends
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Ability to operate store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, lift over 25 lbs, and use janitorial tools as needed. Specific requirements may vary for stockroom shifts.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Retail associates and stockroom leads (where applicable).
