GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific store area, overseeing general operations, and supervising staff when acting as the Manager on Duty. They handle opening and closing the store, supervise associates, and ensure a friendly shopping environment, proper merchandise presentation, and cleanliness. They also execute and supervise operational processes as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety and practice safe behaviors consistently.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment, correcting or reporting unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, including managing entrances/exits, EAS devices, security, and alarm systems.
- Ensure clear egress routes and safe conditions for customers and staff.
- Respond to emergencies and test fire alarm systems as scheduled.
Customer Service:
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness; recognize associates’ efforts.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and uphold the company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance and ensure associates do the same.
- Keep store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Handle daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards through supervision and task management.
- Manage merchandise receiving, processing, and organization, including back stock.
- Assist in merchandise placement and signage, and reduce damage losses.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a presence on the sales floor, and engage customers and staff in loss prevention efforts.
- Safeguard confidential information and merchandise, maintain PVM systems, and conduct inspections.
Front End Operations:
- Ensure front-end operations follow best practices, maintain pace and energy, and train associates on registers and policies.
- Manage equipment, supplies, and merchandise flow at the front end.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
- Audit and manage returned merchandise according to policy.
Administrative Duties:
- Oversee cash handling, deposits, payroll, and other administrative tasks as assigned by the Store Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Previous customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems.
- Basic math skills.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Ability to use store equipment, stand and walk up to 100% of the time, and perform physical tasks including bending, lifting over 25 lbs., and using janitorial supplies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Retail associates and stockroom leads (if applicable).
