GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific area of the store and the general operations when acting as Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing the store, supervise associates, and maintain a friendly, easy-to-shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation and a clean work area, executing and supervising operational processes as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety and practice safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment; report unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building including entrance/exit control, EAS devices, Cash Office, and security measures.
- Ensure clear egress to emergency exits and safety of customers including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms when needed.
Customer Service:
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and recognize associates appropriately.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Maintain professional appearance and ensure associates adhere to dress code.
- Keep store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Manage daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed per standards.
- Manage merchandise receipt, processing, and organization.
- Assist with delivering merchandise to the sales floor and back-stock management.
- Maintain compliance with presentation guidelines and signage.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain customer service presence, and safeguard assets.
- Demonstrate integrity, handle confidential information responsibly, and maintain security systems.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Ensure front-end operations meet standards, manage customer lines, and train associates on POS systems and procedures.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms, audit tags, and ensure merchandise compliance.
Administrative Duties:
- Handle cash pulls, deposits, payroll, and other administrative tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Preferred experience in customer service and supervision.
- Familiarity with POS systems.
- Basic math skills for retail calculations.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, lift, and perform physical tasks as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise retail associates and stockroom leads where applicable.
