GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is part of Store Leadership, responsible for a specific area of the store and overall store operations when acting as Manager on Duty. They supervise associates, ensure a friendly shopping environment, maintain merchandise presentation, and uphold cleanliness. They also execute company operational processes as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure safety and security, reporting unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, including entrances/exits, EAS devices, cash office, and armored carrier pickups.
- Ensure clear egress and proper emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarms and respond to after-hours alarms as needed.
Customer Service:
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate professionalism, recognize associates' efforts.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the company brand.
- Maintain professional appearance and ensure store cleanliness and merchandising standards.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards.
- Handle merchandise receiving, processing, and organization efficiently.
- Manage back-stock and reduce damage loss.
- Ensure compliance with presentation guidelines and signage.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain customer presence, and safeguard assets.
- Maintain PVM systems and conduct package inspections.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Maximize productivity, ensure standards at the front end, and manage customer lines.
- Train associates on registers and policies.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and compliance in fitting rooms.
Administrative Duties:
- Manage cash pulls, deposits, payroll, and other store controls.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal communication.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior supervisory and customer service experience preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems.
- Basic math skills.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Ability to use store equipment, stand/walk up to 100%, and lift over 25 lbs as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Retail associates and stockroom leads (if applicable).
