Job summary

The Chicago Cubs are seeking an Area Scout to lead amateur scouting in designated territory, with responsibilities spanning player evaluation, data collection, and coordination with front office. This role requires travel to games and workouts across Georgia and California, and close collaboration with Amateur Leadership.

You will build relationships with players and families, conduct due diligence, and participate in draft preparation meetings, reporting to VP, Amateur Scouting.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED required.
• Significant baseball background transferable to evaluating players.
• Able to use internal Club computer platforms and technology tools.

Responsibilities

• Identify draft-eligible players in the territory by attending games, showcases and workouts.
• Collaborate with front office and R&D to provide insights and coordinate evaluation processes.
• Conduct thorough prospect due diligence including background, medical and performance data.
• Provide clear, timely written and verbal assessments on players.
• Capture and upload data and video on players in the area as requested.
• Develop trusted relationships with players, families and coaches.
• Participate in regional and national draft preparation meetings and MLB Draft execution.
