The Colorado Rockies Baseball Club is seeking an Area Scouting Supervisor to lead amateur talent assessment in a defined territory and to develop trusted relationships that inform draft strategy. This role reports on player evaluations and works closely with Baseball Operations leadership.

Ideal candidates will have extensive scouting experience, strong communication, and the ability to travel and work independently.

Qualifications

Area Scouting Supervisor (Georgia and Ohio)

Position Summary

This is an exciting time to join the Colorado Rockies as we continue to evolve how technology, data, and baseball expertise come together across Baseball Operations. The Area Scouting Supervisor will play an important role in that evolution by identifying and evaluating amateur talent within an assigned territory, developing trusted relationships, and delivering clear, well-supported recommendations that help shape the Club's draft strategy and future.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain thorough coverage of the assigned scouting territory.
• Identify, evaluate, and follow current and future draft-eligible players.
• Create accurate, timely, and detailed player evaluation reports using the Club's scouting systems and standards.
• Maintain schedules, follow lists, preference lists, organizational charts, depth charts, medical information, video analysis, and other prospect-related records.
• Gather relevant background and makeup information through relationships with players, families, coaches, agents, administrators, medical contacts, and other industry sources.
• Monitor player performance and development throughout the scouting cycle and communicate significant updates promptly.
• Collaborate with crosscheckers, Scouting leadership, Research and Development, medical personnel, and other Baseball Operations staff.
• Present clear, well-supported player recommendations during scouting meetings and draft preparation.
• Attend games, workouts, organizational meetings, draft events, showcases, tournaments, and other assigned scouting activities.
• Maintain a strong professional network throughout the assigned territory.
• Protect confidential player, medical, and organizational information.
• Represent the Club professionally and comply with all organizational and MLB policies.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be able to drive and travel. An MVR will be performed annually.
• Bachelor's degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• At least five years of professional scouting experience preferred.
• Experience playing, coaching, scouting, or working in player development at the collegiate or professional level preferred.
• Strong knowledge of amateur baseball, player evaluation, and the MLB Draft process.
• Ability to evaluate physical ability, baseball skills, performance, projection, makeup, and risk.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain and support player evaluations.
• Sound judgment, attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues across Baseball Operations.
• Proficiency with computers, video, mobile technology, and electronic scouting or reporting systems.
• Ability to establish professional relationships with players, families, coaches, agents, administrators, and MLB personnel.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• This position does not currently have direct reports but is responsible for independently managing scouting coverage and relationships throughout the assigned territory.

Work Environment and Schedule

• This is a field-based position requiring extensive travel throughout the assigned territory.
• The schedule varies throughout the scouting season and regularly includes nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
• The position requires attendance at games and events in varying weather and environmental conditions.
• The individual must be able to travel by automobile and air, remain seated or standing for extended periods, and work effectively while traveling.
• Regular and reliable attendance at assigned games, events, and meetings is required.

Work Environment, Schedule, and Physical Requirements

This is a field-based position requiring extensive automobile and air travel throughout the assigned territory, including overnight travel. The schedule varies throughout the scouting season and regularly includes nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. The position regularly requires the ability to:

• Attend assigned games, showcases, meetings, and other scouting events.
• Remain seated for extended periods while driving, traveling, attending games, or completing reports.
• Stand and walk for extended periods and navigate stairs, stadium seating, uneven surfaces, and varying field conditions.
• Observe and evaluate live and recorded baseball activity in indoor and outdoor environments.
• Work in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
• Operate computers, mobile devices, video equipment, and other standard scouting technology.
• Communicate effectively in person and through telephone, video, and electronic platforms.

• Annual Salary Range: $75,000 to $95,000 annualized salary. This is a regular-status, full-time, exempt position.
