Job summary

Amazon is seeking an Area Manager to lead a team of hourly associates across its United States operations in Pontiac, MI. You will mentor staff, ensure safety, quality, and productivity, and coordinate with Safety, Engineering, and HR to meet delivery goals.

Responsibilities include managing a 20+ member team, flexible scheduling, and contributing to Lean and Six Sigma initiatives. The role emphasizes customer-focused outcomes and operational excellence across multiple workflow stages.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of employee and performance management experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon experience.
• Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
• 1+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience.
• Experience managing a team of 20+ employees.
• Experience with process improvements (Lean process, Kaizen, and/or Six Sigma).
• Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related field.
• Industry experience in: retail, F&B, military, manufacturing, automotive, biotech, electronics, energy, instrumentation, machinery, defense/aerospace, medical, cosmetics, production or distribution environments.

Responsibilities

• Support, mentor, and motivate your hourly workforce
• Manage safety, quality, productivity, and customer delivery promises
• Collaborate with Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, Quality Assurance, HR to meet business objectives
• Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
• Stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts
• Work in variable temperature and weather environments including outdoor loading areas
• Continuously climb and descend stairs where applicable
