Job summary

Amazon is seeking an Area Manager in Detroit to lead a team of hourly employees, ensuring safety, quality, attendance, and performance while meeting delivery promises. This role involves cross-functional collaboration with Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, Quality Assurance and HR to align plans with business objectives, and requires flexibility for weekend/nights/holidays.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of employee and performance management experience.
• 1+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience.
• Experience managing a team of 20+ employees.
• Experience with process improvements (Lean, Kaizen, and/or Six Sigma).
• Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Support, mentor, and motivate your hourly workforce
• Manage safety, quality, productivity, and customer delivery promises
• Collaborate with Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, Quality Assurance, HR to meet business objectives
• Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
• Stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts
• Work in varying, sometimes loud environments and with variable temperatures
• Continuously climb and descend stairs where applicable
