Job summary

Apex is seeking an Area Manager based in Richland or Walla Walla, WA, to lead multidisciplinary infrastructure projects across Washington. You will drive delivery, develop client relationships, and guide senior engineers through planning to construction, ensuring quality and on-time performance.

Ideal candidates bring 15+ years of transportation project leadership, a PE license in WA and OR, and a track record of winning work with state and local agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 15+ years of transportation project delivery in WA/OR.
• P.E. license in WA and OR or ability to obtain within six months.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary transportation design from pursuit to construction.
• Strong knowledge of WSDOT Design Manual, AASHTO, MUTCD.
• PM, budgeting, scheduling, and client management experience.
• Proficiency with MS Office and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Proven business development and client relationship experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary infrastructure projects with budgets >$3M, ensuring schedule, budget, and quality.
• Contribute to pursuing and capturing more than $2 million in annual business development across WA and OR.
• Lead business development for infrastructure projects in SW WA, Eastern WA, and NW regions.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and identify new project opportunities.
• Serve as Project Manager and/or Principal-in-Charge for complex infra projects from planning through construction.
• Oversee scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction.
• Provide technical leadership for roadway, highway, intersection, bridge, and corridor improvements.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across roadway, drainage, utilities, structures, traffic, and environmental.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and PMs to deliver projects.
• Represent the firm at client meetings, industry events, and professional organizations.
• Promote a collaborative, client-focused culture ensuring safe, on-time, on-budget delivery.
