Chartwells Higher Education, a member of Compass Group USA, is hiring an Area HR Generalist to support Tennessee Tech University and other Tennessee campuses. The role focuses on policy application, employee relations, recruitment coordination, and HR training while promoting diversity and development initiatives.

The position requires travel, strong communication, and knowledge of employment laws, with a robust benefits package and opportunities within a large hospitality education network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR or related field required.
• PHR or SPHR designation preferred.
• 3+ years HR generalist exp; management exp a plus.
• HR exp at a large, multi-unit org required.
• Experience in centralized HR environment preferred.
• MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills required/advantageous.
• Knowledge of employment laws, policies and programs.
• Ability to define problems, collect data and draw conclusions.
• Response experience to inquiries from customers/regulators.

Responsibilities

• Ensure HR policies are applied consistently.
• Coach management; assist with investigations and disciplinary action.
• Oversee hourly recruitment and onboarding (MyOpportunity).
• Maintain employee recognition programs.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state laws.
• Run/review HR activity reports.
• Support survey interpretation and feedback process.
• Attend manager meetings; conduct HR training and initiatives.
• Review pay increase requests for internal equity; process changes.
• Prepare and present HR topics and trainings.
• Lead diversity initiatives: recruiting, retention, promotion goals.
• Assist in Personal Development Plans for associates.
• Participate in the Annual Performance Appraisal process.
