Job summary

The South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department is seeking a dynamic leader to mentor and direct Area and Comprehensive Supervisors, guiding statewide programs to higher performance levels.

You will assist with recruiting, training, and succession planning, while coordinating with senior leadership to meet statewide goals. This role requires effective budget oversight and active participation in executive teams.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, or Psychology.
• Six years of rehabilitation experience.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and direct Area and Comprehensive Supervisors to ensure impactful employee performance through effective leadership.
• Assist with recruiting and hiring as appropriate; and maximizing staff training and professional development.
• Coordinate with the Chief of Staff to ensure achievement of statewide goals and initiatives, as well as the achievement of assigned goals in each program.
• Train new Area and Comprehensive Supervisors to ensure a successful transition into leadership and area success.
• Assume responsibility for vacant Area and Comprehensive Supervisor roles.
• Participate on the Committee on Rehabilitation Excellence (CORE), as well as the Commissioner’s Executive Management teams.
• Ensure achievement of the Agency mission and initiatives, as well as, overseeing continued improvements in service delivery.
• Provide guidance to Area and Comprehensive Supervisors in managing all area spending practices to ensure adherence to budget and spending limits.
• Coordinate with the Director of Field Operations to assess the overall performance of Area and Comprehensive Supervisors.
• Conduct routine office visits to observe program performance and provide coaching and mentoring.
• Complete Travel Activity Reports in a timely manner and submit within the designated timeframe.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Commissioner and/or Chief of Staff.

• Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, or Psychology and six years of rehabilitation experience. Supervisor experience with SCVRD and statewide travel required.
