Job summary

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City seeks an Area Communication & Publishing Director to lead a team of managers and staff, directing strategic communications and publishing efforts across the USW area.

Reporting to the Director for Temporal Affairs, you will manage campaigns, partnerships with leaders, and ensure alignment with doctrinal review, budget, and product planning to support the church's mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, public relations, or a communication-related field.
• 11+ years of combined education/experience may be considered with relevant track record.
• Proven people-management experience with leadership skills and strategic communication planning.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to leaders and teams.
• Experience managing brand, internal/external communications, and media relations.
• Familiarity with research methods and policy compliance, including privacy and IP.

Responsibilities

• Increase understanding of the Church among priority audiences through unified area communication.
• Lead the area publishing and communications team and align with the Global Church Communications Guide.
• Develop internal and external campaigns and establish key relationships with opinion leaders.
• Coordinate and extend reach of Church messaging and channels, respecting doctrinal review.
• Oversee annual area publishing planning, budgeting, and resource management.
• Ensure collaboration with HR on hiring, performance management, and staffing decisions.
• Direct coordination with Correlation Department for local product planning and certification.
• Manage production operations across print, video, and digital publishing.
