Job summary

UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement in Northbrook, Illinois, is seeking an Archivist to advance preservation, access, and outreach of the UL archives. The Archivist will process, accession, arrange and describe collections in analog and digital formats, and support the digital repository for long-term access.

Qualifications

• Experience processing archival collections according to best practices and standards.
• Proficiency in appraising, accessioning, arranging and describing collections (analogue and digital).
• Ability to provide reference and research support to internal/external customers.

Responsibilities

• Appraise, select, accession, arrange and describe archival materials in analog/digital formats.
• Support development and maintenance of the digital archival repository for long-term access.
• Collaborate with communications, PR, social media, and other teams on history-related projects.
• Prioritize physical/digital processing backlog and optimize storage space.
• Respond to reference questions from diverse stakeholders in a timely manner.
• Conduce oral histories with employees/retirees and promote donation of papers.
• Lead tours of the archives for staff and external audiences.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
