Job summary

Underwriters Laboratories Inc. seeks an Archivist in Northbrook, IL to preserve and activate UL’s 132-year history. You will appraise, accession, arrange, and describe collections in analog and digital formats, and support digital repositories for long-term access.

You will collaborate with communications and other teams, manage backlog, and conduct oral histories while facilitating research requests and tours for employees and external audiences.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in library and information science (MLS/MLIS) with archival focus or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of archival processing experience
• Experience with archival management software and digital preservation platforms

Responsibilities

• Appraise, accession, arrange and describe archival collections across analog and digital formats
• Support digital archival repository maintenance and long-term preservation
• Respond to reference questions from internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner
• Conduct oral histories and lead archival tours for staff and external audiences
