Job summary
UL Standards & Engagement in Northbrook, IL is seeking an Archivist to preserve and activate the organizations’ 132-year history. You will appraise, accession, arrange and describe archives in analog and digital formats and support the digital repository for long‑term access.
Required: MLS/MLIS (or history/public history with archival experience) and at least two years of archival processing; familiarity with ArchivEra, ArchiveSpace, Microsoft 365, Acrobat and Photoshop; Certified Archivist
Qualifications
- MLS/MLIS with archives focus or history degree with archival experience.
- Minimum 2 years archival processing experience.
- Experience with archival description standards and digital preservation.
- Familiarity with ArchivEra, ArchiveSpace, and Microsoft 365.
- Certified Archivist preferred.
- Digital archives coursework preferred.
Responsibilities
- Appraise, accession, arrange and describe archival materials.
- Maintain digital archival repository with born-digital records.
- Collaborate on communications and outreach about the archives.
- Prioritize backlog of archival processing.
- Assess storage space and reorganize materials.
- Respond to reference questions from stakeholders.
- Conduct oral histories with long-standing employees.
- Lead tours of the archives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
