Job summary

Goodwyn Mills Cawood LLC is seeking an Architectural Technical Writer to develop, organize, and manage construction specifications for complex projects across the Carolinas. The role blends field and office work (20% field, 80% office) and involves close collaboration with architects, engineers, and consultants.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Architecture, a CCS credential, 10+ years of specification writing experience, and strong knowledge of IBC, ADA, and ASTM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture preferred.
• CSI CCS credential required.
• 10+ years of architecture/construction experience focusing on specification writing.
• Strong knowledge of building codes (IBC, ADA, ASTM).
• Experience with project documentation and construction administration.
• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and specification software.

Responsibilities

• Develop and organize written specifications defining materials, products, and workmanship for construction projects.
• Ensure specifications align with design intent, codes, and regulations.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and consultants to reflect design decisions in specifications.
• Resolve discrepancies between drawings and specifications.
• Maintain up-to-date specifications throughout project phases (SD, DD, CD).
• Assist with bid documents, addenda, and contract requirements related to specifications.
