Job summary

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) seeks an Architectural Technical Writer to develop and manage project specifications across Carolinas. You will work closely with architects, engineers, and consultants to capture design intent and ensure documentation meets codes and standards.

Hybrid travel between offices (Columbia/Greenville/Charleston, SC and Charlotte, NC) is expected as you maintain up-to-date specifications and support bid and construction phases.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in architecture/construction with focus on specification writing.
• CCS credential required; familiarity with CSI standards.
• Knowledgeable about building codes (IBC, ADA) and materials.
• Experience with project documentation and construction administration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and organize written specifications for construction projects.
• Ensure specs reflect design intent and comply with codes.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, and consultants on specifications.
• Review drawings for consistency and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain and update specification documents across project phases.
