Job summary

Amy Baker Architect is seeking a seasoned specification writer for fully remote work aimed at preparing architectural specifications and front-end documents for projects across the Midwest and SE region. You will review drawings, determine scope with clients, and maintain open-item logs to ensure complete manuals.

Candidates should have 5+ years of experience, strong technical writing abilities, and proficiency with Speclink, CDT/CCS credentials are a plus.

Qualifications

• 5 years minimum experience in preparing architectural specifications.
• Proficiency in Speclink for specification writing.
• Degree in architecture or at least 5 years experience in an architectural or construction firm.
• Strong technical writing skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of architectural and engineering terminology.
• Experience reviewing technical documents and construction drawings.
• Ability to collaborate with architects.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• CDT is a plus; CCS is a plus.

Job description

Primary responsibilities include preparation of architectural specifications and front end documents, reviewing architectural drawings and collaborating with architect clients to determine scope, maintaining list/log of open specification items for projects, and collating and compiling project manuals.

Project locations are typically based in the midwest and south eastern states (minus Florida). Experience specifying projects in these climate zones/regions is a plus.

Hours are flexible and position is fully remote.

Requirements

5 years minimum experience in preparing architectural specifications

Proficiency in software tools for specification writing, including Speclink

Degree in architecture or at least 5 years experience working at an architectural or construction firm

Strong technical writing skills, attention to detail

Knowledge of architectural and engineering terminology

Experience in reviewing technical documents and construction drawings

Ability to collaborate effectively with architects

Excellent communication and organizational skills

CDT is a plus; CCS is a plus
