Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory seeks an Architect to join the Facility Design and Project Engineering team in Idaho Falls. The role focuses on planning, design, and modernization of research facilities, with projects including secure and mission‑critical buildings in DOE settings.

The team follows a 9x80 schedule at the Idaho Falls site, with every other Friday off, and regular work at desert site locations is anticipated. Strong leadership in design reviews is essential.

Qualifications

• Licensed professional architect in Idaho or able to obtain licensure by reciprocity within 6 months.
• B.Arch or M.Arch from NAAB‑accredited program is required.
• Level 3: Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience or Master's with 2 years; Level 4: Bachelor's with 9 years or Master's with 6 years.

Responsibilities

• Perform architectural design for building and facility projects, including development of design concepts, space planning, building systems coordination, and preparation of architectural drawings and design documents.
• Ensure designs comply with building codes, accessibility standards, life safety requirements, and DOE/BEA standards.
• Serve as primary architectural point of contact and organize design reviews and constructability reviews.
• Coordinate architectural deliverables with engineering, vendors, and subcontractors for integrated, code‑compliant designs.
• Provide technical leadership and decision‑making for architectural design with Project Management inputs.
