Job summary

North Wind Resource Consulting seeks a Lab Director/Field Director to oversee the Tempe cultural resource laboratory and sometimes serve as Field Director for surveys across Arizona. The role combines laboratory analysis with field data collection and testing on federally funded projects.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in Southwest archaeology, experience with artifact identification, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience with Class III archaeological surveys, monitoring, testing, and data recovery in the Southwest.
• Possesses 5+ years of Southwest archaeology experience and familiarity with site recording standards for Arizona.
• Site recording knowledge for historic and prehistoric sites per land agency specs.
• Experience with artifact identification, data collection, in-field documentation, and agency requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop the cultural resource laboratory facility and manage project materials in Tempe.
• Direct lab tasks and analysis, guiding field/director activities.
• Lead the transportation, organization, and storage of artifacts and data.
• Direct permit submissions and reporting to state, tribal, and Federal agencies.
• Lead Class III surveys as Field Director for various projects with accurate data collection.
• Coordinate fieldwork mobilization and demobilization and ensure safety protocols.
