WSP is currently initiating a search for an Archaeologist/Environmental Planner for our Albuquerque, New Mexico or Durango, CO offices. Field duties would also extend into Texas. This position will be a temporary part-time role.

Your Impact
  • Authors technical reports and cultural resource documents with clarity and minimal grammatical or spelling errors.
  • Conduct cultural resources fieldwork, reporting, and mitigation in support of pre-construction project design and engineering. Conduct data QAQC reviews.
  • Assist with all aspects of fieldwork, monitoring, data collection, inventory, analyses, site form preparation, and report production.
  • Conduct pre-field Class I records reviews.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to keeping up-to-date with current cultural resources management and Section 106 regulations and planning practices.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, Cultural Resources Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience meeting the Secretary of the Interior’s standards).
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in environmental planning and permitting, including environmental surveys, impact assessments, and regulatory compliance for transportation, energy development, zoning, and tribal or federal land projects.
  • Strong skills in cultural resource management report writing.
  • Knowledge of public and private sector requirements for cultural resources surveys.
  • Ability to travel and work outside regular hours if needed.
  • Proficiency in using GPS equipment for data collection.
  • Good organizational skills, multi-tasking, and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Basic proficiency with business writing, office software, and related tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience being listed on federal and state cultural resource permits in New Mexico as Crew Chief.
  • Experience with ArcGIS or AGOL field maps software.
  • Familiarity with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and related regulations.

Compensation

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $64,000 - $103,070
