Job summary

Ducks Unlimited, Inc. in partnership with the USDA NRCS, is seeking a full-time Archaeologist in the Great Lakes Atlantic Region (Warrensburg, MO) to help identify sites and develop cultural resource sections of contracts and environmental documents.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in anthropology or archaeology and at least 3 years of field and report-writing experience, plus strong communication skills and willingness to travel across the state as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in anthropology, archaeology, or related field.
  • 3+ years field and report writing experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication; coordinate input from clients and agencies.
  • Ability to travel extensively within the state; overnight travel up to 11 days per month.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws governing cultural resources.

Responsibilities

  • Research archaeological databases and records to identify potential sites.
  • Identify major cultural resources in different environments.
  • Help develop technical cultural resource sections of contracts and environmental documents.
  • Prepare reports of findings and recommendations for NRCS and other agencies as requested.
  • Attend staff meetings and maintain time distribution and work records; travel as required.
