Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is offering an Arborist Trainee Internship based in Akron, OH, with a Spring-Summer 2027 start. The internship provides hands-on field work alongside experienced Arborists, Climbers, and Plant Health Care technicians, focusing on trees, landscapes, and client service.

Interns can expect 40-50 hours weekly, Monday through Friday with some Saturdays, and a pay rate of $22–$23 per hour.

Qualifications

• Currently studying Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry or related discipline.
• Driver's license required; Commercial license a plus.

Responsibilities

• Learn to be a tree professional in the field, working with experienced Arborists and landscape professionals to deliver client service and maintain health and beauty of trees and landscapes.
• Tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing and maintenance; installation of trees and landscapes; safe operation of equipment such as chainsaws and chippers; plant health care activities; exposure to daily operations and business components.
