Job summary

Brush Hog Tree Care, Inc. is seeking an Arborist Ground Operations Specialist based in La Honda, CA. You will join our tree care crew to support foremen, climbers, and crews in delivering high-quality services for commercial and residential clients.

The role includes hands-on work in pruning, rigging, cabling, tree removal, and equipment operation while following safety procedures and interacting with the public.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform manual labor year-round in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Reliable transportation to the job site; based in La Honda, CA.

Responsibilities

• Assist foremen, climbers and crew to manage the work site and interact with the public.
• Perform tree care tasks including pruning, rigging, cabling/bracing, and removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain and operate equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, leaf blowers, chippers, tractors, aerial lifts).
• Drive trucks with trailers and conduct daily safety inspections.
• Ensure work zones are safe and organized; assist with other duties as needed.

Required: Reliable transportation to the job site. Many of our job sites cannot be reached by public transportation, Uber, scooter, or bike. We serve the San Francisco Bay Area and greater Northern California Counties. This position is based out of La Honda, CA

Preferred: Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, or horticulture experience

Preferred: Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Management, Environmental Science or a related field

Speaks/Reads English. Being bilingual is a plus.

Job Summary

As an Arborist Ground Operations Specialist, you'll join Brush Hog's tree care crew. This mid-level role offers hands-on work in tree and shrub care for commercial and residential properties. You'll assist foremen, climbers, and fellers to manage the work site and interact with the public, all while reporting to the Crew Leaders, Supervisors and General Foreman and playing a vital role in the team.

Gaining on-the-job training to safely perform all aspects of arboriculture, including:

• Pruning trees
• Rigging
• Cabling and bracing
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintaining and operating equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, leaf blowers, chippers, tractor, aerial lifts, etc.)
• Implementing work zone safety procedures
• Assisting Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders working on the ground and aloft
• Assisting with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties
• Traffic and pedestrian control, and other relevant duties as operationally necessary
• Drive trucks with trailers; including daily safety inspection before operating
• Assist aerial workers and other around crew members
• in all aspects of tree care and removal
• Keep the job site safe & organized, drag & chip brush, rake & clean up the job site Able to work with and without direct supervision
