Job summary

Wright Tree Service is seeking a Crew Leader to guide a field crew, enforce safety and OSHA standards, and coordinate tree-trimming work and herbicide applications. You will liaise with customers, assign tasks, and ensure efficient production on job sites with a strong focus on safety and quality execution.

The role involves reading maps, maintaining records, and performing field inspections while working near energized equipment and in potentially hazardous conditions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience on tree trimming or clearing crews or equivalent skills assessments.
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• First-Aid and CPR cards or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety coaching and ensure compliance with procedures and OSHA regulations.
• Co-ordinate task assignments and prioritize work on the job site.
• Identify hazards and conduct safety briefings and training as needed.
• Operate herbicide application equipment and maintain records.
• Obtain permissions for tree trimming and chemical application; liaise with customers.
• Work near hazardous equipment and energized power lines; maintain safe distances.
• Trim, remove or prune trees using climbing and ground tools; follow safety protocols.
• Conduct pre-inspections of work areas for hazards; respond to emergencies.
• Load equipment with limbs/logs; perform minor repairs and document costs.
• Maintain good customer relations and professional conduct of crew.
• Maintain logs: timesheets, work orders, hours, and manhours for cost control.
• Interpret maps and drawings showing work orders; understand line equipment voltages.
• Set up traffic control and barricades; coordinate with owners and emergency services.
• Prepare and clean tools; keep work area organized; inspect vehicles and equipment.
• During emergencies, participate in dispatch and response activities as required.
• Support Wright’s safety culture and employee ownership; adhere to laws and company policies.
