Job summary

Planet Group seeks an Accounts Receivable specialist for a 3-month, on-site assignment in Somerville, MA. This contract role offers an hourly rate of $29–$31 and requires 1–3 years of experience in collections/AR, with solid Excel skills.

You will perform end-to-end AR activities, process balances, support month-end close, and maintain accurate ledger records while communicating effectively with customers and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Collect outstanding balances and post receivables to the GL.

• Communicate with customers and coordinate with other departments.

Essential Responsibilities

• Accurately and effectively collect outstanding balances from customers and post customer receivables and credits to the general ledger while maintaining detailed account records that allow for in-depth analysis of customer activity.
• Conduct credit reviews and analysis of current and new vendors.
• Research discrepancies and eliminate obstacles to collecting past due balances.
• Assist in month end closing, reconciliation of accounts receivable, prepare schedules, sales, and accounts receivable reconciliation.
• Maintain the necessary data to accurately bill and remit sales tax to all tax authorities on a timely basis, as well as ensure that all tax exemption certificates are current.
• Professionally communicate with customers and work cross departmentally to effectively resolve credit and collection issues.
• Assist in the reporting of credit and collection metrics and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Credit and Collections.

Requirements

• BS or BA degree.
• 3+ years of prior accounts receivable and collections experience.
• Strong professional phone and negotiation skills are necessary.
• Proficient MS Excel skills.
• Familiarity with Oracle ERP experience is a plus, but not required.
• Heavy reporting and analyzation skills.
• Must have strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to multitask and prioritize workflow.
• Work well under pressure when meeting deadlines.
• Time management and organizational skills; as well as the ability to quickly adapt to change and shift gears frequently.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
