Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) Accounting Department, located in Austin, seeks an Accountant III for the AR Hotline role. You will handle billing, refunds, fund moves, and reconciliations while ensuring confidentiality of client information.

The position requires at least three years in billing, accounting or cash handling and strong MS Office skills. Office hours are weekdays; telework is not currently available.

Qualifications

• Three years of billing, collections, financial research, accounting, finance, or cash-handling experience.
• Experience using automated accounting or customer database systems is preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process refunds, fund moves, claim setups and related requests.
• Handle client information with confidentiality.
• Research and analyze financial data using multiple client-based accounting systems.
• Backup AR tasks as needed by management.
• Follow guidelines under applicable state/federal regulations.
