Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission in Austin seeks an Accountant IV for Accounts Receivable (AR) covering SSLC and SH teams. You will perform journey-level accounting, audit financial documents, and support multiple systems (CAPPS, USAS, ARTS) with travel across Texas for audits.

Role requires GAAP knowledge, government accounting experience, and strong communication. Travel up to 50% is expected; telework is not available. Competitive benefits and pension offered.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Experience in accounting and financial operations; preferred in state government or non-profit.
• Proficient with MS Office and automated accounting systems; strong numerical accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Audits accounting and financial documents for accuracy and compliance.
• Classifies, codes, posts, and balances financial records; reviews documents.
• Travel across Texas to conduct unannounced audits and compile annual reports.
• Reconcile SSLC/SH Rent, bank reconciliations, and petty cash certification.
• Support AR management and act as Subject Matter Expert for AR SSLC/SH.
