Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking an Accountant III in Austin, TX. The role reports to the Accounts Payable Manager in Expenditure Management and focuses on complex vouchers and ensuring accurate AP operations for the agency.

The position requires the ability to interpret state and federal rules, prepare and post encumbered/unencumbered vouchers, and provide guidance within CAPPS Financials and related systems. Telework eligible and day shift.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field is generally preferred.
• Experience with state financial accounting is preferred.
• Ability to use complex automated accounting systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule and prepares, audits, data enters, and posts vouchers.
• Audits and ensures accurate entry of complex accounts payable vouchers in CAPPS Financials.
• Works with vendors and agency staff to process accounts payable transactions and refunds.
