Job summary

McCormick YMCA is seeking an Aquatics Program Manager to lead and coordinate daily aquatic operations, promoting engaging programs and ensuring pool safety and maintenance.

You will recruit and train staff, collaborate with community partners, and uphold high customer service standards while overseeing scheduling and records. The role requires a flexible schedule and strong leadership abilities in a community-focused setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, or related field or equivalent experience
• Two years or more of recreation/aquatics-related experience with prior team leadership/supervisory experience
• Strong customer service orientation with youth, parents, and volunteers
• Strong verbal, written and presentation skills for in-services and trainings
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple priorities for personal and team effectiveness
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills to build and maintain stakeholder relationships
• Current aquatics training and certifications (lifeguard, swim instructor, CPR for Professional Rescuer) or ability to be certified within 30 days of hire
• Must have a flexible schedule: 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, one weekend day required
• Ability to meet physical requirements; YMCA provides accommodations as needed

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise day-to-day operation of aquatic programs
• Plan, promote, create, and coordinate programs
• Maintain records, schedule staff, ensure pool maintenance
• Network with public agencies and community organizations to meet program needs
• Recruit, train, and supervise YMCA team members, including leads, instructors, lifeguards, counselors and volunteers
