Job summary

YMCA of the USA is seeking an Aquatic Coordinator to oversee day-to-day programs and activities. The role includes lifeguarding, teaching, and leading classes while ensuring strong leadership presence during peak swimmer times.

The Aquatics Coordinator will support the YMCA mission—strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility—by supervising staff and enforcing health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years experience in aquatics, required.
• Minimum age of 21 required.
• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Responsibilities

• Cover lifeguarding and swim instruction when shifts are not filled.
• Perform as Head Lifeguard when on duty.
• Interview, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct personnel.
• Monitor daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of pool logs and report needed pool maintenance.
• Create and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance schedules of the Aquatics Center. This includes properly training staff to use the cleaning equipment.
• Ensure records of staff certifications are current and complete.
• Review and evaluate staff performance.
