Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta in Alpharetta is seeking an Aquatics Director to lead high‑quality pool programs for members and staff. You will ensure safety, drive program excellence, and manage lifeguard teams and daily operations with a focus on service and community impact.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2+ years in aquatics or 4+ years with supervisory experience; ASHI CPR Instructor certification is a plus. Join a mission‑driven team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, physical education, exercise psychology, behavioral science, or a health‑related field and 2+ years in aquatics OR 4+ years in aquatics 1+ years of supervisory responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Hire, schedule, train, and develop lifeguard staff.
• Monitor daily pool operations per health and safety regs.
• Maintain pool chemical levels and facility records.
• Lead Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR trainings.
• Keep staff certifications current and complete.
• Model strong relationship-building with staff.
• Ensure clear communication within area of responsibility.
• Manage online pool reservation system.
• Process bi‑weekly payroll and manage budgeting.
• Train lifeguards on Workplace Safety Guidelines.
• Support changes to member traffic flow into pool.
• Prepare lifeguards with daily rosters.
• Serve as Building Director on Duty (DOD).
• DOD ensures safety protocols are followed.
