Job summary

The YMCA seeks an Aquatic Director to lead the development and implementation of safe, high-quality water programs for members and guests. You will oversee swimming lessons, lifeguard coverage, and specialty aquatic programs, while ensuring strong CPR/First-Aid/Lifeguard training for staff.

Responsibilities include staff recruitment, training, and development of volunteers, plus enforcing safety policies and emergency procedures across the aquatic team.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in physical education, recreation or related field.
• Two or more years of supervisory experience in an aquatic program.
• Ability to train swim and water fitness instructors.
• Excellent communication and public relations skills.
• Computer proficient.
• Requires trainer-level certification in YMCA Swim Lessons within 90 days of employment.
• First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications required.
• Current ARC or YMCA Lifeguard certification required.
• Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement safe, quality aquatic programs for members and guests.
• Coordinate and supervise swimming lessons and lifeguard/open swim scheduling.
• Coordinate specialty aquatic programs and CPR/First-Aid/Lifeguard training.
• Recruit, train, and develop aquatic staff and volunteers.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and emergency procedures.
