Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston seeks an Aquatics Leader to develop and oversee water programs across centers. You will supervise staff, schedule classes, and ensure safety and quality while working within budget and community goals.

The role requires lifeguard and YMCA certifications, a bachelor's degree or equivalent, and 21+ age with prior aquatics experience. Flexible scheduling and benefits provided.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • 1–2 years related experience preferred (aquatics coordinator or supervisor).
  • Minimum age 21 and completion of required safety trainings within 30 days.
  • Certification in Lifeguard, CPR/AED, First Aid and related YMCA trainings required within six months.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and supervises aquatic program activities to meet YMCA objectives.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, and directs staff and volunteers; manages performance.
  • Monitors pool operations and adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Creates swim and water fitness classes and coordinates schedules.
  • Maintains records, budgets, and program statistics; supports fundraising and events.
  • Delivers lifeguard, swim instruction, CPR and First Aid trainings.

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Lifeguard Certification including BLS, Adult and Pediatric First Aid, Oxygen, Swim Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor certifications
YMCA program-specific and trainer certifications
