Job summary

YMCA of Greater Cleveland is seeking an Aquatics Coordinator to develop, organize and implement high‑quality aquatic programs for members and the community. The role directs staff, recruits and trains personnel, maintains safety standards, and manages budgets and program growth.

Responsibilities include overseeing pool operations, staff scheduling, lifeguarding, CPR/First Aid training, and collaboration with community partners to deliver swim lessons and water fitness classes.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree preferred; or high school diploma with 2–3 years related experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of related experience required.
• Three (3) years supervisor and/or leadership experience preferred.
• Certified Pool Operator required; must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification required.
• Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor Certification preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Completion of YMCA aquatics trainings and certifications within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Directs and supervises program activities to meet community needs and YMCA objectives.
• Establishes new program activities and expands programs in the community.
• Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
• Recruits, hires, trains, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers.
• Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to health and safety regulations.
• Creates and schedules YMCA aquatics programs (swim lessons, water fitness, swim team).
• Assists in marketing and distribution of program information.
• Develops and monitors safety, swim team and program budgets.
