Job summary

The Lake Superior YMCA is seeking an Aquatics Lead for the Downtown Duluth branch. This part-time, front-line role delivers high-quality aquatics programming through on-deck staffing hours, including group and swim lesson instruction and supervision.

It supports the aquatics department and maintains a safe, welcoming environment for all members and guests. Role involves lifeguarding, swim team coaching or safety training as needed, and collaboration with the Aquatics Director to ensure program

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in aquatics programming.
• Certifications: YMCA Swim Instructor v6, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Basic First Aid.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising aquatics staff and volunteers; evaluate performance and motivate staff.
• Provide on-deck coverage as swim instructor and safety trainer.
• Maintain a safe, engaging aquatic environment for all ages and abilities.
• Deliver high-quality customer service and respond to member needs professionally.
• Assist with swimming lessons and may assist with swim team and lifeguard shifts.
• Monitor pool operations to comply with regulations and maintain records.
• Assist with onboarding and training of staff and coordination of programming.
• Represent the Y at community events and support fundraising activities.
