Job summary

The Lake Superior YMCA in Duluth, MN invites applications for the Aquatics Lead role. This part-time position leads the aquatics staff, programs, and operations in collaboration with the Aquatics Director, delivering safe, high‑quality aquatic experiences and welcoming all participants.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Aquatics programming.
• Certifications: Certified lifeguard including CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Basic First Aid.
• Willing to obtain: American Red Cross Instructor, Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, YMCA YSL v6 Swim Instructor Certification, YMCA Lifeguard Supervisor Certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising aquatics staff and volunteers; develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve department goals.
• Maintain a safe and engaging aquatic environment for participants of all ages and abilities.
• Deliver high-quality customer service and respond to member needs in a professional manner.
• Monitor pool operations; maintain records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
• Oversee day-to-day aquatics programming including swim lessons and facility rentals.
• Provide break coverage and on-call support in coordination with the Director.
