Job summary

The YMCA in Duluth, MN is seeking an Aquatics Lead- Swim Lessons for the Downtown Duluth branch. This part-time role delivers high-quality aquatics programming, leads on-deck instruction, and supervises staff while ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for all participants.

Responsibilities include swim instruction, lifeguard supervision as needed, and coordination with the Aquatics Director to support the department and community events.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in aquatics programming.
• Certifications: YMCA Swim Instructor v6, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups in the community.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Supervise aquatics staff and volunteers; support Director in achieving goals.
• Provide on-deck coverage as swim instructor and safety trainer.
• Maintain a safe, engaging aquatic environment for all ages.
• Deliver high-quality customer service to members and guests.
• Assist with lessons, lifeguard shifts, and schedule coordination.
• Ensure proper pool coverage and on-call support with the Director.
• Monitor pool operations and maintain records of chemicals and safety compliance.
• Support onboarding, training, events, and communications for aquatics.
• Promote equity and inclusion; participate in community outreach.
