Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking an Aquatics Staff Lead to join our team in Silverdale, WA. This role performs Lifeguard and Swim Instructor duties, promoting a safe and welcoming atmosphere while supporting member engagement and safety per YMCA policies.

Responsibilities include leading by example in pool and deck safety, instructing youth swimming lessons, and assisting with scheduling and staff training. Part-time position with weekend/opening or closing shifts available.

Qualifications

• Must possess, or obtain and maintain YMCA Lifeguarding or Red Cross Lifeguarding certification and CPR/AED, Oxygen Administration and First aid certifications prior to hire.
• Six months or more of related experience preferred.
• Previous experience working with youth preferably in a program setting and diverse populations.
• Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (WA Fair Chance Act).
• Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other training as required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of members by scanning water and deck areas and enforcing rules.
• Instruct swimming lessons for youth and ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Perform rescues, administer first aid and CPR per YMCA policies.
• Prepare lesson plans with progressive skills for class levels.
• Assist Aquatic Program Director with scheduling and training drills.
• Maintain positive relationships with members and staff.
