Job summary

YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties in Gig Harbor, WA is seeking an Aquatics Staff Lead to guide Lifeguard and Swim Instructor duties while maintaining a safe, welcoming environment. You will lead by example, promoting member engagement and safety in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas according to YMCA policies.

Qualifications

• Lifeguard Supervisor certification required.
• Lifeguard Certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid and Oxygen Certifications.
• Minimum six months aquatics experience including 100 hours lifeguard service.
• Background and Reference checks per WA State Fair Chance Act.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of members by vigilant water and deck monitoring, enforce rules, and follow emergency procedures.
• Instruct swimming lessons in basic and advanced strokes for youth.
• Perform rescue actions, administer first aid and CPR as required and document reports.
• Prepare class lesson plans with progression suited to class ages and abilities.
• Assist Aquatic Program Director with scheduling and staff training.
• Maintain positive relationships with members, participants and staff.
