Job summary

Aquatics Staff at the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties are responsible for Lifeguard and Swim Instructor duties, ensuring safe swimming conditions and engaging with members. The role emphasizes the YMCA core values and safety protocols across pool and surrounding areas.

The position offers part-time hours (up to 25/week, evenings/closing shift) with a wage of $18.00–$18.50 per hour, and requires a minimum age of 16 plus relevant aquatics experience and certifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16 years or older.
• Six months or more of related Aquatics experience preferred.
• Current Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of our members by vigilantly scanning the water and pool deck areas, enforcing rules, and following YMCA emergency procedures.
• Instruct swimming lessons in basic and advanced stroke skills to youth members.
• Perform rescue actions, administer first aid and CPR per YMCA policies and procedures; complete required reports.
