Job summary

YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking an Aquatics Lead to oversee lifeguards and swim instructors, ensuring safe, effective aquatic programs. You will coach staff, teach classes as needed, and maintain strong customer service values on the pool deck.

This role requires flexible hours, EMT-level readiness, and a strong commitment to the YMCA mission and equity. Seattle-based position with on-site responsibilities and opportunities to grow within the aquatic department.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years lifeguarding and/or swim instruction with leadership.
• Current lifeguard and swim instructor certifications from a recognized organization.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are required.
• Oxygen administration certification is required.
• Ability to obtain YSLI-T and/or LGI within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and feedback to lifeguards and swim instructors.
• Assist in training staff and teach Lifeguard or Swim Lesson classes.
• Oversee deck operations and enforce safety protocols.
• Respond to aquatic emergencies and coordinate with responders.
• Deliver friendly, professional customer service to members and guests.
• Support administrative tasks and program planning.
