Job summary

YMCA of Northern Colorado seeks a Program Director of Aquatics to lead diverse and safe swim programs, supervise staff, and manage budgets across the branch. This role includes overseeing lifeguard training, swim lessons, and pool maintenance while ensuring compliance with health regulations.

You will develop and schedule classes, coordinate staff, and drive community outreach and fundraising efforts, partnering with senior leadership to meet association-wide objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
• 1–2 years related experience preferred (aquatics coordinator or supervisor).
• Minimum age requirements may apply (e.g., 21).
• Within 30 days, complete Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic backgrounds.
• Completion of YMCA program-specific and trainer certifications (CPR/First Aid, Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Directs and supervises program activities to meet community needs and YMCA objectives.
• Develops, manages, and controls budgets related to the position.
• Recruits, hires, trains, and develops personnel and volunteers; reviews staff performance.
• Implement strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals; maintain current certifications.
• Monitor pool operations to adhere to health and safety regulations; manage pool maintenance.
• Create and schedule swim classes and water fitness programs.
• Assist in marketing and distribution of program information and fundraising activities.
• Provide data and reports for assigned programs; participate in Manager on Duty shifts.
