Job summary

Greater Wichita YMCA in Kansas seeks an Aquatic Director to provide leadership and management for the branch Aquatics department operations, staff, budget, fundraising, as well as the program and membership experience, in accordance with YMCA policies.

The position requires a 40-hour week and responsibility for safety, staff development, program quality and member engagement across pools and lifeguard trainings.

Qualifications

• Leadership and management of the Aquatics department at a YMCA branch.
• Oversight of staff development, scheduling, and performance.
• Budget responsibilities including payroll and program costs.
• Fundraising and campaign involvement to support aquatics programs.
• Ensure safety training and certifications for lifeguards and instructors.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, and train staff; develop, schedule and manage a high-performing team.
• Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
• Maintain staff retention through positive reinforcement and support.
• Ensure adequate lifeguard coverage during operating hours.
• Conduct safety drills, trainings, and maintain certification records.
• Communicate program information and needs to leadership and staff.
• Develop, monitor and meet budget targets for the aquatics program.
• Lead Strong Community Campaign initiatives and fundraising efforts.
• Oversee pool operations, health and safety compliance, and equipment inventory.
