Job summary

Ymca Of The Inland Northwest in Spokane, WA is seeking an Aquatics Coordinator - North Branch to oversee daily Aquatics Department operations, lead lifeguard staff, and ensure safety for members and staff. Responsibilities include scheduling, emergency response, and coordinating swim team activities with the Sandpoint Sharks.

The role requires lifeguard certifications, experience in aquatic programming, and strong leadership to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Lifeguard, CPR/AED, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens certifications.
• Two years of related experience in aquatic programming and youth development preferred.
• Completion of YMCA required training upon hire.
• Ability to develop positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform Lifeguard duties with active surveillance of the pool area.
• Lead Lifeguard staff and coach skills to motivate and ensure proper application.
• Lead the response and supervise lifeguards during emergencies and file incident reports.
• Report sanitation issues, water quality, and maintenance needs to supervisors.
• Ensure lifeguards follow YMCA policies and regulations during shifts.
• Assist Aquatics Director with staffing, scheduling, events, and CPR training.
• Coordinate staff breaks and trainings, ensuring compliance with local laws.
• Assist the Sandpoint Sharks Swim Team operations including practices and meets.
