Job summary

The YMCA of the Inland Northwest is seeking a Lifeguard - North in Spokane, WA. This part-time position requires monitoring the pool area, enforcing rules, and responding to emergencies to ensure member safety and a positive aquatics environment.

Qualified candidates hold current lifeguarding, CPR/AED, first aid, and bloodborne pathogens certifications; O2 certification preferred. Training, flexibility, and a member-centered approach are essential to success in this role.

Qualifications

• At least 15 years of age.
• Current certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens; YMCA trainings on hire.
• Emergency Oxygen certification preferred.
• Strong communication and listening skills with staff and members.
• Ability to identify problems and resolve them.
• YMCA required trainings completed upon hire.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and monitor the natatorium, engaging with members and program participants.
• Activate EAPs, rescue swimmers, and provide first aid and care to injured members.
• Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations of the Aquatic facility.
• Perform checks on equipment, water quality, and facility cleanliness.
• Know, review, and apply safety and emergency policies; respond per YMCA protocol.
• Attend staff meetings and in-service training to maintain skills.
