Job summary

YMCA of the Inland Northwest seeks a part-time Lifeguard at Valley to maintain a safe aquatic environment. Responsibilities include supervising swimmers, enforcing rules, and responding to emergencies with trained first aid. The role requires current lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications and completion of YMCA trainings on hire.

The Lifeguard works at the Valley Branch in Spokane Valley, WA, supporting youth, families, and the community while upholding YMCA values and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Lifeguard certification in good standing (ARC); CPR/AED and First Aid current.
• Bloodborne Pathogens training completed.
• Excellent communication and listening abilities with staff and members.
• Ability to identify problems and respond calmly in emergencies.
• Completion of YMCA trainings upon hire to align with branch policies.

Responsibilities

• patrol and monitor the natatorium and engage with members and lessons.
• perform rescues and provide first aid to injured patrons.
• enforce safety rules and maintain equipment, water quality, and cleanliness.
• apply safety, emergency and child-abuse policies per YMCA protocol.
• attend staff meetings and trainings to stay current.
